Dietrich Cape in Red/Black Leopard
Hand-crafted in New Orleans, the Leslie Courreges Dietrich Cape marries the best features of a blazer and a cape for a piece that announces who is #HBIC. Tailored shoulders create a strong silhouette, while the cape features two lengths: a shorter “blazer” that hits below the hips with a sweeping “cape” hitting knee-length. A peaked front creates a unique styling opportunity for brooches.
Exterior is black and red low-pile faux leopard print fur with a black satin charmeuse lining.
Leslie is 5’10 and wears a Medium/Large.

Marrying masculinity and femininity, the Dietrich cape captures that duality as displayed by film and stage legend Marlene Dietrich. Discovered in a Berlin cabaret, she was a pioneer for her on-screen androgyny and indelible personas. Once famously having said, “I dress for the image,” the Dietrich Cape is designed for those who are not dressing for the public, for fashion, or for men - but instead, dressing to create an image. Like Dietrich, the cape is designed to have sex but embody no gender.
Dietrich became a U.S. citizen in 1939, after having denounced the rising Nazi regime in the 1930s. As a USO, she was awarded the Medal of Freedom, one of the highest honors an American civilian can receive.
