The first-ever female staff screenwriter in Hollywood, Anita Loos, is the namesake of the Anita Bolero. Best known for her comic novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (and its accompanying theatrical script and screenplay), as well as the Broadway adaptation of Colette’s, Gigi, she was known as “The Soubrette of Satire” for her biting wit and wry style. She was an in-demand writer who replaced F. Scott Fitzgerald on failed projects and established the legacies of Hollywood stars like Jean Harlow and Audrey Hepburn.
