The Brontë Dress is named for the literary trio of English sisters who greatly influenced the course of gothic literature with their literary masterpieces, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. All three sisters wrote under male pseudonyms, and their writings were considered immoral, outrageously violent, and condemned. Their works are considered among the first sustained feminist novels, and within a few years of publication, all three sisters revealed themselves as the true authors of their respective novels.
